Spend enough time writing about camping and you’ll find other websites that constantly draw your interest. After running Wild Terrain and other related sites for a number of years now its safe to say we have a long list of blogs we like to read for pleasure and to gain some inspiration for camping ideas.

Favorite Camping Blogs

Depending on how much time you spend online (and your camping preference) some of them may be familiar to you but we like to seek out the more obscure websites that usually offer a more unique look at camping as a pastime, so hopefully we can introduce you to something new.

alastairhumphreys.com

First up is Alastair Humphreys, one of the true legends when it comes to blogging with a jam packed website that stretches all the way back to 2001. This self styled adventurer, blogger, author and motivational speaker has spent a lifetime not only enjoying the outdoors but also investing his time to promote it.

He encourages readers of his blog to go on “microadventures” which can be done quickly and cheaply while still getting us outside for a few hours (can only be a good thing). Our first visit to Alastai’s blog many years ago took up a good number of hours as there is so much to read so give yourself some time to soak up all this man has done.

daveswildcamping.com

Dave’s Wild Camping is another long term website which is based solely on nights spent under the stars in various parts of the country. The blog posts are very detailed with plenty of high quality pictures and lengthy videos.

We have found this website a great resource when looking for somewhere new to go wild camping, made much easier because each post title contains the area that Dave and crew have camped. Be warned though some of the language used in the videos can be a bit colorful (if you know what we mean) so would advise removing the little ones from the computer first 🙂

Signing up for Dave’s newsletter is recommended as the posts can be spaced out a bit but definitely worth the wait.

We hope you enjoy these websites as much as we do.

After not getting any emails from Dave’s Wild Camping for a while we had a quick look at the site and it appears he’s stop posting new content.

This is such a shame and we can only hope its just temporary, there’s still a mountain of old posts and videos to enjoy though and in the meantime we’ll try to find out what’s going on.
