Wearable tech is well on its way to be the next big thing and Garmin got a head start by releasing a range of smartwatches and digital fitness aids over recent years. Next up for the company is this Garmin Epix GPS smartwatch, a totally independent GPS in its own right, the Epix displays map data on it’s 1.4 inch high touchscreen.
Not satisfied with cramming just a GPS into this tiny package, Garmin have also fitted the Epix with a compass, altimeter and even a barometer function. Built in storage is 8GB, is shipped with preloaded maps and is (as you would expect) waterproofed.
The Epix also has options to pair it with phones running the Android platform and the iPhone. This connectivity allows the GPS data to be fed into other tracking apps.
As with all new tech the price can be a little too much for some but with the addition of more competition this cost should (hopefully) come down over time.
